Hollywood Wakes Up, But Only For A Day

September 22nd, 2008 · 6 Comments

I’m sure you heard while I was slacking off this weekend that DJ AM, Travis Barker and four other non-celebs were in a fatal (for the 4 nonfamous) plane crash.  If you want the specifics go to People here. People dying and catching on fire is horribly sad.

I’m sorry that that sentence kinda sounded funny; I really meant it!  I mean, I meant that it was sad.  Horribly sad.  Ugh. Nevermind.

Anyway, what really irritates the piss out of me is all the “statements” from other pseudo famous people about the crash.  Every single fucking statement says something like “it’s really a wake up call to value every day like its your last.”  It’s horribly annoying and I’d say- a little disrespectful.  I think Jamie Kennedy takes the cake for his: “dude! I was totally trying to call him! Huh. I guess I’m not mad, his entire lower body was on fire so he couldn’t return my voicemail; his phone must have been in his pocket.”  Prick.

Jamie Kennedy: “You know, it’s crazy because I’ve been trying to call Travis because he was on my show Blowin’ Up and I’ve known him for a long time. And I just hope to God—and I pray—that they’re okay and they get through it…My heart goes out to the four victims’ family for sure, and I do hope that DJ and Travis do pull through. And they are gonna pull through.”
David Spade: “Sometimes you wind up in those little planes, and there’s always a point where you feel like something might go wrong…It just scares me, I feel for them, and it makes me rethink everything…Everyday that you live is a good one. I hope they’ll pull out of it all right. I think everyone’s pulling for them.”
Kathy Griffin: “That is a terrifying, terrifying experience to go through, and thank God two of the guys survived, but, oh man. It’s a scary, scary thing for everyone to go through.”
Lauren Conrad: “My prayers are with them. It’s so scary…I just think it’s a wake-up call. A lot of people take those planes, and you kind of get comfortable and you kind of forget, but it’s really scary.”

Seriously, they actually interviewed Jamie Kennedy, Kathy Griffin, David Spade and Lauren Conrad? WTF?! That is the most random sampling ever! 3 un-funny comedians and a piece of trash?! I prefer the comments that actually matter that PEOPLE quoted, such as the grandmother of Barker’s children “Our heart pours out. We’re hoping he recovers. The family is rallying around him and saying our prayers.” That’s an appropriate and thoughtful comment! Not “Dude, he was on fire, so I guess that’s why he didn’t answer his phone.” What the hell is wrong with these people?!

A guy once told me he didn’t call me back because his pants had caught fire. Now that I think about it, he also used that excuse for how he ended up with his pants off in bed with my friend. …and my other friend. hmmm…he must have had really hot pants…

When asked, four dumber people could not comment, because they do not exist.

    Hey David Spade, “PULL THIS!”

How about actually talking to people who have been in this position, like the surviving members of Lynyrd Skynrd? What the hell would the people they actually quoted know about this? Nothing. And the article shows it.

Poor form, most poor. I don’t know who got the quotes and I hope it wasn’t anyone connected to extrawhordinary because I’d be sad to find a douche connected to this pile of snarky fun.

Jamie Kennedy never let’s an opportunity to shamelessly plug his show pass him by.
