The trailer is out for Sex and The City movie. Looks like an episode of the show but longer. Will horsey girl finally get her man? Tune in! I’m fucking thrilled, I can’t wait. I’m being completely deadpan here and I wish you could see my face.
I don’t want to go on a diatribe but I think the show and Carrie, are idiocy. The entire message of that show is, as I read it: “you don’t have to treat yourself with respect or demand that of those around you, just go shopping and look pretty and it’ll be okay.” It’s okay to subjugate yourself to a man that makes you second. It’s okay to self abuse with someone that treats you as a distraction. Just keep shopping, fucking and looking shiny and someone will love you…finally. Don’t give me that “they are empowered because they have jobs and are single” bullshit. Women started entering the professional world in full force in the early part of the last century. Women are professionals now; it should be given in shows since it’s a reality in America. Not used as a nuance to slide a demeaning plot line past the hoards. The fact that they are single is completely negated by the fact that the entire show is spent obsessing about men who don’t want them. LAME.
